Hello, My Name is Nicole.
I make web sites, flyers, brochures, logos, and all kinds of nice looking creative things. I live in South Florida and I have a fantastic boyfriend, great friends, and a rabbit named Gordy. I get teased endlessly for being on the computer too much.
I love clean code and web standards. I hate fighting with ie6. I love beautiful, creative designs. I love learning new things and new ways to do them. I started this blog to share my knowledge, make myself a home on the internet, and to record the process of my freelance design career.
I made my first web site ever when I was 15. That was 9 years ago. Frames were cool, tables were the only way you did things, and animated gifs were loved and accepted. In high shool I was a member of Business Professionals of America and we won quite a few awards for Web Design. I even worked as a part time web designer after school. I made some web sites, some logos and learned a lot.
When I was done with high school, I worked at an advertsing agency. I was hoping to work on the web, but instead they taught me to design for print. I learned what a bleed is, what an em is, and why high resolution is important.
After being with the advertising agency, I took some time to try out the restaurant and bar business. You would think that it shouldn’t count as much experience, but I disagree. Multi-tasking took a whole new level, and my communication skills were perfected. I also learned how to make a great martini.
Speaking of multi-tasking, while I was working at the restaurant I decided it was time for me to go to college. I enrolled at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale part time in October 2006. For a few years I worked as a server/bartender, went to school part time, took freelance design work, and for a few months I was even the sole designer at a private university. Whew. But thats all over now. I graduated in December 2007 with an Associate Degree in Web Design & Interactive Media and am now devoting myself totally to freelance design work. So if you need anything head over to my contact page and let me know!
